Crossvale Provides Relief to Alabama Tornado Victims

Just over a month ago, on April 27, more than 70 tornadoes touched down in Alabama, leaving 36 counties declared federal disaster areas. Downed trees, power lines and debris was scattered over the entire state. Families devastated by the destruction of the tornadoes are stepping up and reaching out to help rebuild and restore their communities. Crossvale, Inc. stepped up by purchasing and donating several heavy duty gas chainsaws to the Alabaster First United Methodist Church. Additionally several employees participated in the cleanup effort.

Outreach Minister Stephen Benefield stated, “The church was delighted to receive such donated items and put the chainsaws to use right away to remove fallen trees.” “Tom Bunch and several members of the church have been instrumental in this community cleanup initiative,” Benefield added. Relief supplies including canned goods, bottled water, paper products, first aid kits and toiletries are still being accepted by the church; monetary donations are also welcomed.

Like many other organizations, Alabaster First United Methodist Church felt the immediate call to duty after the tornadoes hit. Seeing the devastation first hand, church member and community organizer Tom Bunch felt “we had to quickly react to cleanup efforts for the safety and security of everyone in the area.” Mr. Bunch confirmed “as long as there are needs, the church will do what we can to restore areas hit hardest by the tornadoes.”

Crossvale specifically purchased the industrial, gas-powered chainsaws to benefit the Birmingham area communities. Crossvale CEO Conor Brankin, the driving force behind this latest community project, acknowledged, “The destruction really has to be seen to be believed. Crossvale has a strong footing in Alabama and responding to the disaster with manpower and other aid is the very least we could do.”

One of the core values of Crossvale is to pay it forward in the communities we serve. To check out the latest community news, visit crossvale.com/community-relations. Please consider volunteering or donating to a charity or non-profit organization to aid victims and communities in Alabama and other states hit by this disaster. For more information on how you can help, go to http://alabasterfumc.org and select Restore.
